The traditional Historic Costa Brava Rally catches the age of majority

The unmistakable aroma of petrol has taken over Palamós. The Historic Costa Brava Rally, which has just reached the age of majority, has returned to its feet. Eighteenth edition of the event, already recognized as one of the best regularity rallies on the European continent. Yesterday, starting with the prologue and the test that will last until Sunday, October 3, opening his arms wide open to accommodate up to 65 classic cars and 16 motorcycles. Seconded by a lot of parallel activities, he will qualify for the FIA ​​Regularity Trophy. For three days, this motorbike party will have a route that will cover a thousand kilometers and up to 23 sections.

Located in “the perfect epicenter for a rally like this” and going through a “very sweet moment,” the historic Costa Brava is the perfect blend of “competition, tourism and good food.” Words by Àlex Romaní, president of RallyClassic. From three, turn for the first stage, which is expected to last about 12 hours with a stop for dinner at the restaurant Ca l’Enric in La Vall de Bianya, in La Garrotxa. Already on Saturday, the action will start at two and will be decisive in determining who will be the winner. There will be a regrouping in Ripoll during the afternoon and the end point is scheduled for midnight. The awards ceremony will be held on Sunday from 11 a.m. And the routes? A real surprise because the organization, with the aim of promoting equality among all participants, keeps secret the routes until shortly before the start of each stage. To all this, the best classified of the rally will have the opportunity to participate in the final of the FIA ​​Trophy that will be celebrated in the Poland Historic Rally.

The pair formed by Carles Fortuny and Carles Jiménez, behind the wheel of a Lancia Beta Coupé, is one of the favorites. Especially because it has prevailed in three of the last four editions of the test. Also the Porsche 911 SC by Carles Miró and Ivan Matavacas, the VW Golf GTI by Eduard Poveda and Joan Jordán, or the Autobianchi A112 Abarth by Juan Pedro García and Sergi Giralt.
