A few hours earlier he had instead beaten Portugal 27-19 in the semifinals.

International domination: this is the fourth triumph

An enterprise that is the umpteenth stage of a real domain. For the Azzurri coached by Giuliano Bufacchi, Mauro Dessì and Francesca D’Erasmo, it is the fourth success at level international: in recent years they have already won a European Championship in 2017 in Vila Nova de Gaia, a World Championship in 2018 in Funchal and a World Championship in 2019 in Guimarães.

The tournament

To participate in the competition (from 5 to 11 October) over 500 athletes from 17 countries (Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, France, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, United States) who competed in eight disciplines: athletics, five-a-side football, judo, swimming, synchronized swimming, basketball, tennis, table tennis.

The medals

The Azzurri totaled 105 medals, 35 of which gold, celebrated by the president of the Italian Paralympic Committee Luca Pancalli: «Italy is also a protagonist at the SUDS OPEN EURO TRIGAMES, a European competition aimed at athletes with Down syndrome. The Azzurri win an avalanche of medals, 105 shining in athletics, swimming, judo, table tennis, basketball, 5-a-side football.
