The MIC has historically been one of the world’s most important showcases in the field of training football. The prestigious international tournament on the Costa Brava has seen figures that, years later, have exploded to the highest level such as Leo Messi, Neymar, Busquets, Marcelo and Casemiro. At the gates of a Barça-Madrid, on Sunday (1/4 of 5), the MIC regains prominence remembering the victory of the Barça team in the children’s classic in 2015. This year’s Barça-Madrid has lost the great icon world champion of the last fifteen years, Leo Messi, who has found a destination in Paris alongside Neymar. Without Messi, Barça’s hope will be for Ansu Fati who has become the club’s new icon.

The striker leads the new batch of young footballers trained in the youth team and who in 2015 succeeded in Palamós. In April of six years ago there was a hectic match in the finals of the grassroots football tournament at the Municipal de Palamós. Children’s Real Madrid, coached by former white midfielder José María Gutiérrez, Guti, faced Barça. In the Barça ranks, three names that currently occupy much of the club’s future hopes: Ansu Fati, Eric Garcia and Nico González. The match was also played by Take Kubo (Mallorca) and Konrad de la Fuente (Marseille) by Barça. and Miguel Gutiérrez, now in the first white team. Barça ended up lifting the title with a comeback included (4-2). Madrid’s Paulo scored the first goal of the match (m.6), but the Barça team turned the result around before the break thanks to goals from Eric Garcia (m.15), Ansu Fati (m .17) and Nils Mortimer (m.21). Eric, captain of the team, equalized after a corner after taking advantage of a hairstyle by Fati and, in the next action, the current 10 of Barça -who had the 9 on his back in Palamós- he finished with pleasure taking advantage of a Madrid error. In the second half, Madrid scored their second goal after an action by Francisco Díez (m.29) and an individual play by Ansu allowed Konrad to place the final 4-2.

Juanjo Rovira, director of MICFootball, explains that “for the MIC it is the ultimate to see how in a Barça-Madrid there are six boys who are at most 20 years old and who played our tournament. In addition to Ansu, Eric, Nico and Miguel, MIC Pedri and Gavi have also played. We are proud to see how the list grows and it is a clear sign that the MIC is a real showcase for future football stars.
