The Cardinals would have a new manager

The St. Louis Cardinals will soon announce that Oliver Marmol will be their new manager.

This is what the sports site The Athletic said on Sunday night. The Missouri club has also scheduled a press conference on Monday.

Marmol was drafted by the Cardinals in the sixth round of the 2007 draft. The former outfielder played until 2010, but was never able to play in the major leagues.

He began his coaching career in 2011 as the batting manager for the “Rookie” level team of the “Cards”.

In 2021, the St. Louis roster maintained a 90-72 record. She narrowly qualified for the playoffs. Her run was brief, however, as she was defeated 3-1 by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Nationals’ best runner-up game.

Ten days ago, the Cardinals fired manager Mike Shildt, who had been in charge of the team since 2018.
