The Biobío women’s basketball team will open the 2021 Araucanía Games this Wednesday

The women’s basketball team from the Biobío region will begin regional participation in the Games of La Araucanía 2021, in a version that will be marked by the absence of the Argentine provinces as a result of sanitary restrictions. The delegation undertook a trip to Punta Arenas with the conviction of carrying out a great campaign.

The regional representatives will debut this Wednesday, October 27 at 10:00 am in the Fiscal Gymnasium of Puntarenas, when they will compete against Los Ríos. During the same day, the delegation will face Los Lagos, in a match that will be played from 4:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Biobío women’s basketball team will hit Ñuble this Thursday at around 12:00, while on Friday it will animate the stellar duel of the day against the local, Magallanes, at around 8:00 p.m. The first phase of the competition will end on Saturday, with two matches that will be played against Aysén and La Araucanía.

“We go to these games with the best expectations, and we know we have a chance to win them. We are very excited to return to a field and compete in person after being locked up for so long and with many restrictions”Was what Francisca Rocha, the team’s basketball player, said. The athlete also expressed her excitement for being the team that will open the games.


The roster of players is completed by Montserrat Reynero, Isabel Pulgar, Carla Siegmund, Josefa Catalán, Florencia Ávalos, Fernanda González, Daniela Bustos, Dafne González, Daniela Nova, Macarena Ruiz and Isidora Jara.

Some of the characteristic features of this edition are that there will be multi-sites and that the competition will be played almost entirely during November. Therefore, judo will begin within the next week in Aysén, while cycling and swimming will have action in Los Lagos and La Araucanía, respectively. Meanwhile, on November 12 the men’s athletics will begin in Ñuble and, later, women’s and men’s volleyball will begin in Concepción. The last days of the month will host women’s athletics and men’s basketball in Los Ríos.

In this regard, the sports team (s), Daniel Garcés, valued the meeting to be held over the next few days and announced that the region is already prepared for the volleyball contest.

It should be noted that this national edition also considers the ParaAraucanía Games. In two disciplines, para-swimming and para-athletics, the athletes will compete between November 26 and 29 in Temuco.
