Tennis: Bolivia defeats Honduras and approaches the final of the Billie Jean King Cup

The Bolivia team achieved its second victory in the Billie Jean King Cup this Thursday, this time against Honduras (3-0) on the second day of key B of the tournament that is played at the La Paz Tennis Club.

It is the second consecutive triumph that the national team achieved and it is just one step away from winning its series and qualifying for the final that is scheduled for Saturday, which will award promotion to American Group I.

After this victory, Bolivia leads key B with 2 points. She is escorted by Honduras and Puerto Rico (both with 1 point), while Barbados is last without units

Bolivian Gabriela Cortés opened the series this Thursday. In this first duel he faced Natalie Espinal, the number two in his country.

The national won the first set 6-4, after being at a disadvantage in the first four “games”. In the second set, Cortés won by the same score to get the first point of the day after one hour and 29 minutes of play.

Noelia Zeballos was the second national tennis player to take the field. She faced the Honduran Alejandra Obando, whom she defeated with a resounding 6-0 double in just 56 minutes.

With the series assured, the duels duel was played. Zeballos paired with Fiorella Durán to face Daniela Obando and Ana Zavala.

Although the match had some complications for the Bolivians, the match ended in favor of the national couple 6-2 and 6-1 after one hour and four minutes.

This Friday, Bolivia will play its last match of the group stage against Puerto Rico. If they win, they will go on to the final on Saturday against the leader of Group A.
