Jannik Sinner delivered a real gala performance on Sunday evening and at the same time fixed the entry into the 3rd round of the Masters 1000 tournament in Indian Wells.

The young South Tyrolean, currently number 14 in the world, offered his best tennis at the hard court tournament in the Colorado desert in California and handled John Millman (ATP 58) 6: 2 and 6: 2.
The helpless Australian was literally shot off the field with extremely well placed service and winner blows that rushed over the net at hellish speed. The numbers alone speak volumes: Sinner has beaten a whopping 26 winners (19 of them with the forehand) and only made 12 unforced mistakes. Even Millman paid him respect after the game: “Boy, you were really good today. You did nothing wrong, absolutely nothing. ”

From the beginning, Sinner left no doubt as to who would be the master of the house today. He immediately took the second service game from his opponent, later moved to 5: 2 with another break and then bagged the first set win.
The same game in the second round: Sinner pressed, the otherwise strong Millman panted afterwards. Sinner broke again to 3: 1 and 5: 2, before he used the first match point after exactly 74 minutes.
Now against Isner or Nishioka
After Sinner’s debut at the tournament in Indian Wells (at the beginning he had a bye) it remains to be said: If he continues to act in this form and with this joy of playing, great things are ahead of him at the Masters 1000 tournament. First of all, the 20-year-old has to clear a hurdle out of the way for the first time, which is likely to be higher than the one that Millman gave at the beginning. In the fight for a round of 16 ticket, Sinner has to prove himself either against the miracle service John Isner (ATP 24) from the USA or the Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka (ATP 75). Both face each other next night.
