The two games of the round of 16 series ended tied 0-0 and the Brazilians advanced in the tiebreaker from the penalty spot. However, Boca claimed at the time that in both games he scored valid goals that were annulled after the intervention of the VAR.

For this reason, Conmebol announced this Friday harsh sanctions for several members of the Boca delegation. Two of the members of the club’s Soccer Council, Raúl Cascini and Marcelo Delgado, were fined $ 30,000 each and will be prohibited from entering the stadiums in Conmebol competitions for 24 months.

The sanction to Sebastián Villa

Sebastián Villa missed his charge in the tiebreaker against Atlético Mineiro.

In the video that circulated on social networks at the time, the third member of that council, the Colombian Jorge Bermúdez, was seen participating in the incidents. However, the ‘Patron’ was not punished by Conmebol.

The one who did receive a harsh punishment was another Colombian, the player Sebastian Villa, who received a six-game suspension and a $ 30,000 fine. The player Diego González also received the same sanction.

Marcos Rojo was sanctioned with a five-game suspension and a $ 25,000 fine. Carlos Izquierdoz was punished with four games and $ 20,000, and goalkeeper Javier García, with two games and $ 10,000.

Boca has the right to appeal, an appeal that must be submitted within the next seven days.

It should be remembered that Atlético Mineiro was eliminated in the semifinals, after losing against Palmeiras, who will play the final of the Libertadores against Flamengo on November 27 at the Centenario stadium, in Montevideo.
