AS Roma returned to a positive path with a win over Zorya. Satisfied with this result, AS Roma coach Jose Mourinho took the time to offend Lazio.
AS Roma won 3-0 over Zorya in the Conference League continued, Thursday (31/9/2021) night WIB. Goals from Stephan El Shaarawy, Chris Smalling and Tammy Abraham ensured the Giallorossi returned to winning ways after losing 3-2 to Lazio in the derby last weekend.
The defeat to Lazio seemed to still bother Jose Mourinho, who after yesterday’s derby complained about the referee and the Video Assistant Referee (VAR). After the match against Zorya, Mourinho implied satire to Lazio.
“I like the result, which is the most important thing in the end. A few days ago we dominated a team that looked like a small team, but we lost,” he told Sky Sport Italy quoted Football Italia.
“Tonight we won and that’s the most important thing. We need another five or six points to secure qualification. A lot of players have to rest, we don’t have any injuries, so yes the news is positive,” he added.
Victory over Zorya will try to be used as a foothold for AS Roma to stay on the winning track. Next Lorenzo Pellegrini et al will face Empoli at the Olimpico, Sunday (3/10) night WIB.
“It’s always important to get back to winning ways after a defeat. Empoli have nine points, they are a difficult team to deal with and the boys will return to Rome late at night,” Mourinho continued.
“They will make sacrifices by staying at the training ground and training in the morning, then they can go home for a while.”
