Ragusa – Two olive trees to John Paul II on the occasion of the XIII National AVO Day

Tuesday 26 October 2021, at 11.00 the Avo – Association of Volunteers Hospital of Ragusa will donate two olive trees to the “Giovanni Paolo II” hospital which will be planted in the garden of the Hospital. “The trees – said the president Rina Tardino – represent the real and living symbol of being volunteers and the desire to return to grow by giving shade, peace and serenity.”

The celebration of the Day will be dedicated to the commemoration of the victims of Covid.

HE Msgr. Giuseppe La Placa – bishop of the diocese of Ragusa – for the blessing.

On this occasion, the Strategic Management of the ASP and the Director of the “Giovanni Paolo II” hospital will be present.

“The tree that resists blooms again”. This is the motto with which the XIII National AVO Day, Association of Hospital Volunteers, who offer their time every day, free of charge, to people who are frail due to illness, hardship, poverty or loneliness.

A day that falls in the second year of the pandemic, a year in which volunteers were unable to carry out the traditional hospital service in the wards alongside the sick, but which saw new activities flourish alongside those who suffer.
