President Ersin Tatar met with the President of the Basketball Federation Orhun Mevlit and the members of the board of directors. Expressing that basketball is an important branch of sports and a team sport that requires discipline, President Tatar stated that there are important achievements of Turkish Cypriot athletes, especially in basketball.
Stating that the TRNC has achieved significant progress in many fields of sports, despite the unfair and contrary to human rights restrictions and embargoes applied to Turkish Cypriot youth, President Tatar underlined that Turkish Cypriot athletes achieved significant success abroad and proudly waved the TRNC flag.
Stating that many important investments have been made in the TRNC in terms of infrastructure in sports with the support of the motherland Turkey, President Tatar wished the youth to use these opportunities.
President Tatar congratulated and thanked all the athletes, coaches and their families who proudly represented the TRNC by achieving significant achievements abroad.
“OUR SUPPORT WILL CONTINUE”
Underlining that he will continue to give the support he has given to all sports branches on a more general scale, especially basketball, as the President, President Tatar expressed his belief that the successes of Turkish Cypriots in every field of sports on a global scale will continue to increase. President Tatar noted that basketball-related organizations, especially the Basketball President’s Cup, are of great importance.
Orhun Mevlit also stated in his speech that President Tatar is someone who has come from sports, and underlined that as the Basketball Federation, they expect President Tatar’s support.
Presidential Sports Advisor Sertaç Bozatlı was also present at the reception.
