Presentation tomorrow, but which 5 secrets about the Tour course have already been revealed? | Tour

The countdown to the Tour 2022 can begin from tomorrow. Then the organization of the Tour de France will announce the official route. Velowire.com makes it a life’s work to reveal the route schedule before the official presentation. Below are 5 secrets that seem to have been uncovered.

A cobblestone ride arriving in Wallers-Arenberg?

Together with fans, it is every classification rider’s nightmare: cobblestones.

Still, the candidate winners can get ready for a ride with a touch of Paris-Roubaix. Several sections of the dreaded classic could well make an appearance in stage 5.

There would be an arrival in Wallers-Arenberg, which inevitably means that some cobblestone sections have to be digested.

Belgian stage start in Binche

Can we get ready for a Belgian folk festival? Everything suggests so. Several French and Walloon media have already reported that the Hainaut Binche will be the starting place for the sixth stage.

The mayor is already going to the official presentation. Then we don’t have to add a drawing, do we?

What is already certain: the “Grand Départ” this year is for Denmark. A time trial of 13 kilometers will be held in the capital Copenhagen, followed by two more spinner stages in Nyborg and Sonderberg.

Return to Alpe d’Huez

The Dutch can indulge themselves again. For the first time since the 2018 Tour, the mythical Alpe d’Huez would make its return to the course.

The Alpine climb with 21 hairpin bends should provide fireworks on July 14 – the French holiday. The Col du Granon would also be included in the course.

Another spectacle at La Planche des Belles Filles?

La Planche des Belles Filles continues to seduce the Tour management. For the 6th time in 10 years, the caravan would head for the Vosges Col.

The last time, in 2020, was unforgettable: when Tadej Pogacar grabbed the yellow in a climbing time trial after a complete breakdown of Primoz Roglic.

This time it would be a ride in line, with the same unpaved final kilometer from 2019.

The Tour de France for women would also include a ride to La Planche des Belles Filles.

A (decisive?) time trial on the penultimate day

Will a time trial again make the decision in the Tour? With a race against time on the penultimate day, the opportunity does not seem non-existent.

According to Velowire, a time trial of more than thirty kilometers would be on the program in the Lot department, between the towns of Lacapelle-Marival and Rocamadour.

A local trade association even announced the news on social media, but quickly removed the post.

Although there is of course only one certainty: on the final day, the Tour will finish on the Champs-Élysées.
