Peters gives up ambitions for election to the DFB President

When looking for a new president, the DFB has to do without a name: The DFL supervisory board, Peter Peters, has now declined. The reason lies with the amateur representatives.

Peter Peters has given up his ambitions to be elected DFB President. “I’ve shown interest,” Peters told WDR on Sunday. “But I said just as clearly that I would only do that if I had the trust of the amateur representatives. And I think the amateur representatives will take the old route and elect a representative from their circle again. You have to respect that.” The DFL supervisory board head is currently jointly managing the German Football Association on a transitional basis Rainer Koch.

Previously, the regional association bosses had agreed that the candidates for the DFB presidential election next March should come from the amateur sector. The presidents of the regional associations are now to confer with the professional camp of the German Football League on this.

The DFB is looking for the resignation of, accompanied by internal crises Fritz Keller new staff at the top in May. The election is due to take place on March 11th at the DFB Bundestag. According to the will of the amateur bosses, the newcomer should be equipped with more skills.
