Tenerife midfielder Pedri González reached a definitive agreement with Barcelona on Thursday to renew his contract for four more seasons, until 2026, with a termination clause of 1,000 million euros. The Barça footballer currently had a contract with Barça until 2022, so he will extend his relationship with the culé club for four more seasons, after being recognized as the best young player in the European Championship and even entering the list of 30 candidates for the Ball Gold, in addition to opting for the Kopa Award for the best player under-21.

Pedri, who will turn 19 next month, will break the barrier of 1,000 million in clauses for the first time in Barcelona’s history. Leo Messi had 700 million euros of rescission and Antoine Griezmann 800 million, being up to now the highest amount in the Barcelona club.

Pedri and Barça reached an agreement in principle for the renewal of the young footballer two weeks ago and the contracts were only pending drafting. The signing is scheduled to take place this Friday and a Pedri press conference will be held later. The renewal of the canary was a strategic operation for Barça, just as it hopes to close those of Ansu Fati and Gavi soon.
