Paris on Sunday – German Judo Association

On Sunday the women in the weight classes -70 kg, -78 kg and +78 kg fight for the men -81 kg, -90 kg, -100 kg and +100 kg.
The competitions start at 11:00 a.m. and are on the IJF website to pursue. The final bouts begin at 5:00 p.m., followed by an award ceremony.

The following draws were made for the German athletes:

Women:

-78 kg:
Luise Malzahn won the silver medal in Paris in 2019 and is the highest placed fighter on the list this year. It begins against the French Julie Pierret, against whom she has never fought.

Alina Boehm starts right away with a “cracker”. Your first opponent is Audrey Tcheumeo from France. The Frenchwoman is already second in the 2016 Olympics and third in London in 2012, also world champion 2011, four-time European champion and has won a total of 31 medals on the IJF World Tour since 2010. Nevertheless, she is definitely defeatable, most recently she took 5th place at the Grand Slam in Tel Aviv in February, as well as a year ago in Paris.

In both fights, our athletes will also have to convince the spectators, who will certainly support their local heroes loudly.

Men:

-81 kg:
Tim Gramkow
first faces Cheick Abrahams Faouzi Dabonne from Ivory Coast. The 25-year-old from Africa was once junior runner-up Africa champion, but has obviously not performed that often in the international arena.

Timo Cavelius fight first against Turpal Tepkaev from Russia. The balance of the two is balanced, our athlete from Bavaria won in 2016, but lost to the 24-year-old Russian in 2018.

-90 kg:
Tim Schmidt
first has Wachid Borchashvili as an opponent, who is on the mat for Austria. He finished third at the Grand Prix in Zagreb in September and defeated Tim Schmidt, among others, on the way to bronze.

-100 kg:
Dario Kurbjeweit Garcia
starts with a bye and then fights against Asley Gonzalez from Romania. He is runner-up Olympic champion in London and was world champion in Rio in 2013.
