On the eve of the last lap Julien Brun still co-leader at Emporda!

The French Julien Brun and the English Andrew Wilson do not let go. Associated in the last game on Saturday in Girona, the two men returned an identical card of 67 and will have another chance to decide on Sunday. However, we must be wary of the return of the Scandinavian duo Jens Dantorp, Björn Helgren.

As during the first two days Julien Brun (67) conceded only one bogey at the Emporda course designed by Robert Van Hagge but did not manage to get rid of the Andrew Wilson threat. The 27-year-old Englishman made no mistakes on Saturday and will try to win the Challenge Tour for the first time after finishing on the podium three times in the last two seasons.

Brun’s fullness

Smiling, relaxed and patient, Julien Brun has once again been able to seize the opportunities. Even if his great game has not given him complete satisfaction since the start of the week, the winner of the Bluegreen Open de Bretagne, in Pleneuf last June, will start on Sunday with the prospect of registering a second Challenge Tour 2021 tournament on his record.

If successful Brun would come back on the heels of the leader of the Road to Mallorca, the Spaniard Santiago Tarrio, the only player to have won twice this year. Guaranteed to evolve into the elite next year even before the Rolex Grand Final in Mallorca from November 4 to 7, Brun dreams of ending the season with a bang.

Coussaud back in the top 10

Leader in the company of Brun and 3 other players on the evening of the first day the adopted Biarrot Ugo Coussaud could not do better than 70 Friday by conceding his first bogey of the week. A score under par but insufficient to stay in the leading pack. More successful this Saturday during the 3rd round, the young man who blew his 29 moves last Sunday returned to the top 10 with 6 shots from the leading duo thanks to a card of 68.

Note also the nice rise in the ranking of Victor Riu in progress of 20 places. The Saint-Nom-La-Breteche player is in 18th position on the eve of the last round and will try to do better than his 12th place in May at the Dormy Open, his best result of the season.
