Jupiler Pro LeagueThe cellar cracker between OHL and Beerschot remains undecided. After a series of chances, especially the home team failed to win, it remained 0-0. Beerschot doubles his point total and comes to two points, OHL has already drawn for the sixth time.
The number 17 against the number 18, that’s a purebred basement cracker. OHL and Beerschot had little fun this season, with the Rats in particular who could only take one meager point. The relegation specter already loomed over the Kiel after nine match days.
So winning was the message, and that seemed to be something that Marc Brys in particular had taught his men well during their midweek internship in the Netherlands. OHL had the better of the game in the first half and could threaten via Dewaest and Maertens. Vanhamel and Frans were always in the way. After half an hour, Beerschot came up anyway, but a place ball from Soumaré just didn’t fit in the intersection. 0-0 at half time.
The wind in the stadium made football quite difficult, but that did not lead to a lack of opportunities. Less than 20 seconds after the break, Rezaei was suddenly in front of goal, but he couldn’t control the high ball enough to be dangerous. Van den Bergh answered two minutes later with a header into Romo’s arms and a cross against the post. On the hour, De Norre and Maertens pulled the trigger, but their icicles were floated out of goal by Vanhamel. It went well up and down at Den Dreef.
The OHL substitutes created two excellent opportunities. Schrijvers left a great opportunity unexploited after losing Kaba, five minutes later the two reversed those roles. OHL stayed in the same bed sick of the past few weeks: possession and opportunities remained unused. As is the case in matches at the bottom of the ranking, the figures in the slot regularly started dancing, resulting in seven yellow cards. Malinov had to take an early shower after a red one.
There were no more goals, with the 0-0 both teams making little progress. After 10 days of play, Beerschot has a second point. OHL may have deserved more, but after again a lot of misses, they have to be satisfied with a draw number six this season.
