NR-Pokal: MSV with a second-round victory in Schmidt’s debut

Hagen Schmidt’s first game as MSV coach was on Wednesday in the Niederrheinpokal. In the second round, the MSV defeated the A-Kreisligisten Hellas Krefeld with 8: 0 (5: 0).

On Wednesday stood for the MSV Duisburg the 2nd round in Lower Rhine Cup on the plan. It was the first game for the new head coach Hagen Schmidt, who had to do without Rolf Feltscher, Dominik Schmidt (both slightly injured) and Kolja Pusch (flu) against the A-Kreisligist Hellas Krefeld in a sovereign 8-0 victory.

Which didn’t change the story of the game. Because Duisburg immediately took over the reins and after 13 minutes led by Moritz Stoppelkamp with a double with 2-0. First he converted a penalty kick (7th, foul on Marlon Frey), then he hit an arc lamp from ten meters for which nobody felt responsible (13th).

In the 21st minute, the hour of Hellas-Keeper struck Maurizio Marques Dos Santoswho only caused a penalty, but was able to parry it against Stoppelkamp. However, the goalkeeper could not prevent it from being 5-0 for the third division team at the break. Orhan Ademi (2) and Frey raised for the Meidericher.

After the change it went in one direction. The Duisburg team rewarded themselves with goals from Julian Hettwer, Frey and Alaa Bakir

In the league, the MSV will continue on Monday (7 p.m.), then Schmidt will face 1. FC Kaiserslautern in his first league game at home.
