On Thursday, Tour director Christian Prudhomme will officially announce the route of the Tour 2022. The Grand Départ has been assigned to Copenhagen, we already knew that. Some media think they have already discovered something about the rest. So is the northern French newspaper “La Voix du Nord”. He writes that Binche would be the starting place of a stage on July 7.
The 2022 Tour will start in Denmark on July 1. Next year the caravan will spend 3 days in the capital Copenhagen and the surrounding area. La Voix du Nord knows that on a first day of rest on July 4, the entire circus will move to the northern French department of Nord-Pas-de-Calais.
On July 5, there would be a bike ride from Dunkirk to Calais, possibly with a trip to the Heuvelland. The day after, a Roubaix-like stage would be on the menu, to have a start of a Tour stage in Belgium on July 7: from Binche towards the Moselle, according to the newspaper.
Binche was already the start city of a stage in the Tour of 2019. Our French-speaking colleagues from the RTBF know that the city is home to Intermarché-Wanty-Groupe Gobert, who participates in the Tour.
