NFL: season over for Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing shoulder surgery on Sunday.

The 24-year-old missed the second half of Sunday’s game in front of the Denver Broncos due to the injury, which was treated in the evening. This season, Smith-Schuster had 129 yards on 15 catches. It was his fifth campaign with the formation of Pennsylvania.

The Steelers sit last in the North American Division with a 2-3 record this season.

Hospital leave for Browns linebacker

Cleveland Browns rookie linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah was discharged from an Los Angeles-area hospital and was given permission to travel after being treated and assessed for a throat contusion.

Owusu-Koramoah was injured in the second half of the 47-42 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. He was rushed to a hospital near the SoFi stadium and was discharged on Sunday evening, according to a team spokesperson.

Notre-Dame’s second-round pick appeared to be injured making a tackle in the first quarter. He struggled to leave the field and dropped to one knee while holding the throat.

Owusu-Koramoah played 68 of 75 defensive games. He finished with four tackles and caused a turnaround.

The Browns were already without a few starters and suffered several other injuries during this game where the advantage changed seven times and the Chargers scored 26 points in the fourth quarter.

Starting right tackle Jack Conklin (knee) left the game in the second half and was replaced by rookie James Hudson. The Browns opened the game without left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr., who suffered an ankle injury. Blake Hance replaced Wills.

The Browns’ tertiary also came under strain as cornerbacks Denzel Ward (neck) and Greedy Williams (shoulder) fell in battle. They were to undergo magnetic resonance on Monday.

Williams missed all of last season with a shoulder injury.

Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney (elbow) also missed Sunday’s game.

The Browns host the Arizona Cardinals (5-0) on Sunday and then have just a few days off before their game against the Denver Broncos (3-2) on October 21.
