NFL: Panthers would give up on getting Deshaun Watson

It appears the Carolina Panthers are no longer looking to secure quarterback Deshaun Watson.

According to Ian Rapoport from NFL Network, the Panthers are not expected to go to the front lines to acquire the Houston Texans quarterback, who has waived his no-trade clause only for the Miami Dolphins to date.

Watson has not played this season, currently facing a number of civil lawsuits in connection with allegations of sexual assault.

The 12th pick in the 2017 draft started all 16 games for the Texans last season, posting gains of 4,823 yards completing 382 of his 544 passes with 33 touchdowns against seven interceptions. He also had 444 rushing yards with three touchdowns.

In career, Watson has had 14,539 yards. He had 1,186 of 1,748 passes attempted with 104 touchdowns against 36 interceptions.

The Panthers, who started the season with three straight losses, are now 3-4. Carolina will visit the Atlanta Falcons (3-3) on Sunday.
