Cam Newton has revealed he has been vaccinated against COVID-19 and is ready to return to the NFL.
The quarterback, who was cut off by the New England Patriots before the start of the season, posted a video on his YouTube channel saying it was time to get back to professional football. He is a free agent.
” Yes ! I still want to play football, Newton said in the video. I’ve always wanted to jump on the field, play and do what I’ve been doing since I was seven. ”
The 2015 NFL MVP was the Patriots starter for most of the 2020 season, when they compiled a 7-9 record over a pandemic-affected season. But the Patriots decided to trust their first-round pick Mac Jones this year and released 32-year-old Newton.
Newton struggled with COVID-19 last season, and he missed three pre-season practice this summer in what the team called a misunderstanding over protocols.
Newton was not vaccinated when he was released, but says he is now.
