Nba, preseason: Robinson and Herro drag Miami, the Sixers win against Toronto

The Heat confirmed their growth also thanks to Lowry (10 assists against the Rockets). Embiid and Harris debut and win with Philadelpia, while Hornets are overwhelmed against Grizzlies

Duncan Robinson and Tyler Herro combined for 44 points and dragged the Heat to victory outside the Toyota Center in Houston. Another convincing performance from Miami, who seems more “focused” and balanced in the attacking half after the arrival of Kyle Lowry (10 assists against the Rockets). Despite the absence of Ben Simmons, in Philadelphia they enjoy the seasonal debut of Joel Embiid (10 points and 6 rebounds) and Tobias Harris (14 points), protagonists of the Sixers’ success against Toronto. Overwhelmed by the excellent Memphis Grizzlies, on the other hand, the Charlotte Hornets of LaMelo Ball (13 points and 7 assists), held back by horrible shooting percentages and a “no defense” in perfect preseason climate.

The protagonist

Duncan Robinson and Tyler Herro take back the Miami Heat in a 113-106 away win at the Houston Rockets. For them an absolute level performance, perfectly functional to what their role will be within the regular season rotations. Few dribbles and a lot of substance for Robinson, fresh from a rich contract renewal, who closed the game with 20 points in 25 ‘, shooting 7/14 from the field and 5/11 from the arc. Lots of “catch and shoot”, continuous movements away from the ball and speed of execution. Essential. More complete on a technical level and even more aware of Herro’s test, which has shown that he possesses various offensive weapons and a matured ability to read the action before his eyes. So much ball in hand, therefore, and enormous confidence in their own means. For Herro 24 points (7/13 from the field, 4/7 from three), 9 rebounds, 3 assists and a +22 plus / minus in 25 ‘off the bench. His impact, as well as Robinson’s, will be nothing short of crucial in Miami’s rotations over the course of the season.

The match

Philadelphia wins on its home debut at the Wells Fargo Center in its second preseason round, again against the Toronto Raptors, who had won the first match 123-107. This time the Sixers have deployed all the heavy artillery, including Joel Embiid (10 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists in 20 ‘) and Tobias Harris (14 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists), and put on the court what should be the typical team, at least in the starting five. The technical indications for Coach Doc Rivers were comforting, especially from the bench with the excellent impact of Tyrese Maxey (14 points and 5 assists), Georges Niang (16 points in 16 ‘) and Andre Drummond, author of 10 points and 7 rebounds. Philly riddled the Raptors from the bow, targeting a lethal 18/37 and shot 54% from the field overall (47/87). It is preseason, of course, but data that attest to the quality of the performance of the Coach Rivers boys, who still have to deal with the thorny Ben Simmons issue. Good race also for the Raptors, without Pascal Siakam among others, driven by the “usual” OG Anunoby (2 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals) and Fred VanVleet (17 points, 7/13 shooting).

To be reviewed

Wet powders and a defense not even mentioned for the Charlotte Hornets, overwhelmed 128-98 at home by the Memphis Grizzlies, certainly not the most prolific team in the NBA from the point of view of offensive turnover. The boys coached by Coach James Borrego conceded 73 points in the 1st half only, asphalted by the greater organization and technical completeness of the opponents (who slaughtered them at 68-36 rebound), and got bogged down with no way out in their bad offensive percentages. LaMelo Ball (5/17), PJ Washington (2/10) and Jalen McDaniels (3/13) the worst shooting overall 36.4% from the field (36/99) and 24.4% from the bow (10/41) produced from the team. The only ones to save were Terry Rozier, protagonist of 21 points with a 5/9 from three, and rookie James Bouknight, author of 17 points (7/16) coming off the bench and an amazing dunk in the final race.

Results

Charlotte- Memphis 98-128 (Rozier 21, Bane 19), Philadelphia- Toronto 125-113 (Niang 16, Anunoby 22), Houston- Miami 106-113 (Green 20, Herro 24).
