Mo Salah is now Liverpool’s all-time top scorer in the Champions League

Mohamed Salah set a new record at Liverpool, overtaking legend Steven Gerrard. Salah is the Reds’ all-time top scorer in the Champions League!

Liverpool visit Atletico Madrid at home in the Champions League matchday third, Wednesday (20/10/2021) early in the morning WIB. Playing aggressively from the early minutes, Liverpool were able to lead 2-0 within 13 minutes through Mohamed Salah and Naby Keita.

The hosts didn’t give up. Atletico Madrid was able to equalize the score to draw 2-2 through Antoine Griezmann’s brace before the first half ended.

Disastrous for Atletico, Griezmann was given a red card in the 53rd minute for lifting his foot high and hitting Roberto Firmino’s face.

Only then, Liverpool locked the victory through Mohamed Salah’s penalty in the 78th minute. That was after Mario Hermoso violated Diogo Jota in a duel for the ball in the penalty box.

Liverpool’s victory felt so special for Mohamed Salah. Because now, Salah has established himself as Liverpool’s all-time top scorer in the Champions League with 31 goals!

Salah also passed the nick of the club legend Steven Gerrard with 30 goals. Even more brilliant, Salah made 31 goals from only 48 matches (compared to Gerrard who needed 87 matches).

In the top five Liverpool’s list of all-time top scorers in the Champions League, after Salah and Gerrard are Sadio Mane with 20 goals, Roberto Firmino with 18 goals, and Dirk Kuyt with 12 goals.

Mohamed Salah is believed to continue to do well and increase his goal coffers for the Reds. But his comrades, Mane and Firmino, definitely don’t want to lose to be able to score goals.

It’s worth waiting for, how far will Salah’s goals go for Liverpool? Considering, the extension of his new contract (now still until 2023 and want to add another three years) is still tough!
