There are seeds of champions that we spot immediately. This is the case with Ayoub Hamideche. In 2017, the president of Martigues Sport Athlétisme Francis Kehailia already told us: “We have recruited good elements. In particular Ayoub Hamideche who is not only very involved but also very good. It may be a very big future“. Today, the 19-year-old Martégal confirms the hopes placed in him. This summer he was crowned Junior French Champion over 3000 m steeplechase with a time of 9’03”21.
“This is my 5th year in athletics and I already have a title it’s already beautiful, with my trainer we hope that this is only the beginning and not just one step, recognizes Ayoub Hamidèche. In any case, I really wasn’t wrong, it was a good choice. It was my destiny! “ A fate that actually took him to do 3000m steeplechase. “I was playing football and it was not going very well in terms of the state of mind, suddenly I wanted to take off and play an individual sport. When I typed “athlete” on YouTube the first video that came out was a video of the 3000m steeplechase at the world championships in London. It was my first crush. When I arrived here I immediately said “I want to go steeplechase”. My coach calmed me down a bit and said “you will learn to run first and we’ll see if you can jump!”
It is therefore by chance that Ayoub Hamideche successfully entered the 3000 steeplechase. A coincidence that does things well and which also brought Lenny Fabulas, 20, to the high jump. “I started quite late only 3/4 years ago. I stumbled upon it by chance. I was entered into a competition and it went well. Since I jump quite high naturally and that I succeed, I like it “. The high jumper now sees above: “I want to beat everyone and be first. I’m here to win. For now I’m jumping 2:05, I’m in the top 5 in my category. But I have no limits, I want to go the furthest possible”.
No limits either for Ayoub Hamidèche who adds “My dream is the Olympics! 2024 it might be a bit early but why not 2028! We say to ourselves why not me …”
