Man City wins landslide, Guardiola praises Brighton match

Manchester City picked up a landslide victory 4-1 at the headquarters of Brighton & Hove Albion. However Pep Guardiola put great praise for Brighton’s resistance.

Manchester City bulldozed Brighton & Hove Albion 4-1 at the Amex Stadium, Saturday (23/10/2021) evening WIB, in the continuation of the English League. Ilkay Gundogan opened the scoring followed by two goals from Phil Foden in the first half.

Brighton then got up in the second half and turned to press Manchester City. After a number of opportunities, Graham Potter’s team reduced the score to 1-3 through Alexis Mac Allister’s penalty in the 81st minute.

Manchester City had added a goal in injury time through Riyad Mahrez, ensuring a 4-1 victory. It could be said, a brilliant performance in the first half that led Foden et al to three points.

Of a total of 23 shots and 13 chances on target, Man City recorded 15 attempts and nine shots on target in the first half. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola applauds the mentality of Brighton, who did not fall behind after falling 3-0 down in the first half.

“I know what it means to come here against this team, face this manager and this stadium and win here. Big compliments to them after the changes in the second half, they played really well,” he told BBC.

“It’s a good lesson, that in football this game has to be played with the ball and when you don’t have it you suffer. They have a good process when building the game from the goalkeeper, they have one more man in the middle, have movement up front.”

“It’s very difficult to face for 90 minutes. Against other teams, the game will be finished at 3-0. Against this team it’s not like that,” added Pep Guardiola.
