LPGA Tour cards (Stage II): French women are starting strong

Forty-five out of 178, or roughly 1 in 4, is the number to keep in mind this week. Forty-five places awarded to the best of this Stage II, out of 178 players in contention, to advance to the American cards final, the Q-Series played in early December in Alabama. The week therefore started under tension for most of the players, eager to ensure at least (by crossing the cut) of a status on the Symetra Tour next year, but at the end of the first round played this Thursday in Venice (Florida) Pauline Roussin-Bouchard only look ahead – and see no one! La Varoise, accompanied by her coach Alain Alberti and his caddy Sebastien clement, perfectly negotiated his debut in the event by playing the Panther Race Plantation Golf & Country Club in 67 (-5), with five birdies and zero errors. “Sometimes golf is just taking fairways, greens and two putts. That’s what happened today, I didn’t run after the birdies, I just respected my process on each stroke. […] It was a good day of golf, declared “PRB”, first leader of this tournament.

Not very far behind, the neo-proet Agathe Laisne also got off to a great start, making it to the Bobcat Race a 69 (-3) which places her 10th, two lengths from her compatriot. With a 72 (par) on the Panther, Julie Aimé is for her 49th in the par, one stroke of the provisional qualification, whileElodie Rosary, author of a 73 (+1) on the Panther as well, is 71st. Remember that there will be no cut this week, each playing twice each course.
