Lierse K. pulls the sheet to itself in the final phase
The home team immediately had to chase: Kenneth Schuermans opened the scoring with his 5th league goal of the season. But Waasland-Beveren struck back before half time thanks to Louis Verstraete.
In a wonderful second half, the post kept Lierse ahead and the bar was in the way for Waasland-Beveren. The goalkeepers seemed to keep it at 1-1 with some great saves, but it didn’t work out.
The devil was in the tail for Waasland-Beveren. In the final minute, Jens Naessens gave the visitors the full loot with a striking header. In extra time, Yagan took advantage of losing the ball to capture the final score with a distant lob in the empty goal: 1-3.
