In the seventh game of the World Cup qualifying cycle, the Latvian national team lost 0: 1 (0: 1) to the Dutch national team at the “Daugava” stadium in Riga.
Commenting on the tactical tasks of the game, the head coach emphasized that he wanted the team not to be so close to their goal and the line of defense was higher, at the same time covering the areas between the lines.
“It didn’t always work out during the game, but I will say that in general the tactical idea worked. We forced them to play more through the edges, which allowed us to be more successful in defense,” Kazakevich said.

“With the help of the substitutions the game should be refreshed, but also not lose the tactical attitude. It was important not to miss the second goal, to stay in the game until the 90th minute. longer on the square, “explained Kazakevich.
The head coach of the Latvian national team also pointed out that in the last five or ten minutes he had to play more aggressively: “The players who had just gone for a change may not have gained their confidence and aggression, but in general they managed to force their opponents to make mistakes and get opportunities.”
On Monday, Latvia will compete with Turkey at the Daugava Stadium. At the end of the cycle, Latvia will visit Norway and Gibraltar in November.
