Judo World Junior Championships in Olbia: Italy wins three medals

It is a beautiful Italy that on the opening day of the junior world championships in Olbia won three medals, one for each color: gold Assunta Scutto in the 48 kg, silver Giulia Carna in the 52 kg and bronze Advanced Asia in the 48 kg.

And after the first day, Italy also conquers the medal table for nations. It is certainly a good start and is world gold for Assunta Scutto, absolute queen of 48 kg having put under, one after the other, Khalimajon Kurbonova (Uzb), Asia Advanced (Ita), Lea Beres (Fra) and in the final the Russian Irena Khubulova.

There was not even time to celebrate the bronze medal that Asia Advanced had won just before the Neapolitan climbed onto the mat and everything took place in a flash.

From the o soto gari of Asia Advanced, obtained in the golden score on the strong Bulgarian Anastasiia Balaban, to the osae komi with which Assunta Scutto nailed the Russian Irena Khubulova to the ground, only a few minutes have passed, but it seemed to be a suspension of time in which a thousand emotions have merged.

“I knew we were going to win,” he said Gianni Maddaloni, Assunta’s teacher – because I’ve always won with the Russians (referring to some historical meetings of Pino Maddaloni, ed)”.

Very, very good Advanced Asia, defeated only by her teammate and always brilliant and winning in the other matches, with she won with Ana Toy (Mex), Sindi Vainshtein (Isr), Alexia Nascimento (Bra) and, on the Bulgarian Balaban in the final for the bronze.

Then came the silver in the 52 kilograms of Giulia Carna at the end of an extraordinary race in which she overtook Sheili Lopez (Isr), Teresa Santos (Por), Marina Castello Diez (Esp), Erza Muminoviq (Kos), then selling the gold to the French Chloe Devictor, good at finding a wazari in countertechnics.
