Judo: Lois Petit did not deserve such an end of the day …

Loïs Petit’s day ended badly this Saturday in Malaga. Engaged in -48 kg, the 22-year-old Tournaisienne lost for bronze against the Spaniard Lapuerta (22 years old / n ° 58). This thus confirmed its last two victories, in 2019, in Prague and Berlin, over Lois while our compatriot had imposed itself in … 2016, in Coimbra. The fight was bitter and the victory was decided at the very end of it, when the Spaniard crocheted the Belgian’s foot to put her on the ground. From there, Lois tried everything, as since the start of her face-to-face with the Spaniard. In the semifinals, Loïs Petit had already unfortunately lost against the German Kolein (26 years old / n ° 85) who immobilized her shortly before the middle of the fight.

Earlier, Lois Petit had ruled out the Italian Ritieni (24 years old / n ° 120), a judoka who had beaten her in their only face-off, in 2020, in Warsaw. This time, the Tournaisienne left no chance to her opponent, swinging her twice in about twenty seconds, shortly after mid-fight. Arriving in the quarterfinals, Lois then defeated the Israeli Malca (21 years / n ° 111), a old knowledge since they had already met twice in -18 years with two victories for Lois. And she confirmed, winning with an arm lock to have the right to play in the semi-finals …

On -73 kg, Jeroen Casse was exempted from the first round and then saw himself opposed to the German Vennekold (25 years old / n ° 101), whom he had already met twice with a record of … two defeats, the last of which in April, in Lisbon, as part of the Euro. Matthias’ younger brother immediately took the initiative, the referee inflicting a penalty on his opponent for passivity. The German revealed himself a little more and Jeroen saw himself in his turn sanctioned twice, for illegal custody and passivity as well. Physically, the two judokas gave their all, but could not decide between themselves: overtime!

There, the Belgian was again more incisive, causing a penalty to his rival, which re-established the equality at the scorer. Undecided, this fight could only be decided on one detail and it was unfortunately the German who found the opening in the form of a waza-ari, eliminating Jeroen.

On -52 kg, Fiona Vanbiesbroeck was opposed to the Portuguese Diogo (25 years / n ° 75), a regular on the international scene with, in particular, a silver medal in May, in Zagreb. And this experience was fatal for Antwerp, reversed after a handful of seconds! At first, the referee awarded the Portuguese waza-ari before the video attendant assigned her a logical ippon, which ended Fiona’s day prematurely. There is no doubt that our recent gold medalist from Dubrovnik will learn from this …

On -57 kg, Eveline Delbaen delivered two fierce fights. The first, won, against the Kazakhe Abeuova (20 years old / n ° 197), whom she beat on an arm lock; the second, lost, against the Dominican (23 years old / n ° 115) who literally pushed our compatriot to the ground to take the victory in overtime.

On -63 kg, Selina Delen experienced ups and downs during her first fight, against the Polish Dabrowska (23), rising from -57 kg where she was ranked 147th. After scoring a waza-ari on a superb movement, our compatriot was surprised and ended up strangled by his opponent.
