It’s the end for LeSean McCoy

Running back LeSean McCoy has chosen to end his football career.

This is what the Philadelphia Eagles announced in a statement released Thursday. The 33-year-old will therefore retire on Friday as a member of the Pennsylvania organization.

“LeSean possessed a unique combination of speed, fiery spirit and an exceptional understanding of the game that made him one of the most dynamic players in the league and one of the most productive players in the history of our franchise.” Eagles president Jeffrey Lurie said in his organization’s letter.

McCoy is the most rushing running back in Eagles history. In six seasons with this roster, he had 6,792 yards and 44 touchdowns on 1,461 carries.

After his stint with the Eagles (2009-2014), the University of Pittsburgh Panthers product carried the colors of the Buffalo Bills (2015-2018), the Kansas City Chiefs (2019) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. (2020). He was thus crowned champion of the Super Bowl during the last two seasons of the NFL.

In total, McCoy amassed 11,102 yards and 73 majors via carries during his distinguished career. He also caught 518 passes for 3,898 yards and 16 touchdowns.
