Indian Lakshya Sen enters third round of French Open badminton

India’s Lakshiya Sen qualified for the third round of the men’s singles badminton event at Roland Garros with a comfortable victory over Singapore’s Luo Kin Yew here on Thursday.

Sen won his second round match 21-17 21-13 in 40 minutes.

But that was the curtains for Ashwini Ponnappa and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy’s mixed doubles pair as they lost their round of 16 game.

The Indians lost to the Indonesians Pravin Jordan and Melati Daiva Octavianti 21-15, 17-21, 19-21.

The Indian duo dominated the first match but their Indonesian opponents came back strong to win the next two matches and the match in their favor.

And in another men’s singles match, retired Samir Verma was injured against Indonesian Chisar Herren Rustaveto at the end of the second half with a score of 16-21 21-12.
