In Lannion, spotlight on breakdance on October 14 and 15, while waiting for the Olympics – Lannion

Breakdance will be one of the events at the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024, just like athletics or judo. The city of Lannion has decided to take this opportunity to set up a project around this discipline, and more broadly so-called urban cultures (hip-hop, rap, graff, etc.). A long-term project that the teams of neighborhood leaders and the Manoir de Woas Wen want to develop for and with young Lannionnais.

Two famous hip-hop dancers

Kick-off on October 14 and 15, with the arrival of Angelo Razafindrazoary and Salomon Asaro, two big names in the hip-hop scene. The arrival, or rather the return to the district of Ker-Uhel, in Lannion, where they took their first dance steps twenty years ago and where they frequented the youth center. The first has notably danced in the musical “The Ten Commandments”. The second played the role of a dance coach in the film “Break”, released in 2018. Both will host two dance conferences. The first, Thursday 14, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Le Goffic College, is reserved for college students. The second, on Friday 15th, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the amphitheater of the Lycée Le Dantec, is open to all audiences.

On the program: house dance show with One father girl, from the Hip hop New school association in Quimper; breaking show with the Morlaisian group Klan d est 1; conference on sport, health and well-being with Marine Chabbal, teacher in health prevention; hip-hop history with Youval.

Animation marathon between now and the Olympics

This double meeting calls for others, from here to the Olympics. “In 2022 and 2023, breakdance and hip-hop workshops are planned with, depending on the emulation, the creation of a flash mob, graffiti courses …”, Florence Ouvrard, responsible for the offer educational program for 10-15 year olds in the city of Lannion, and Michaël Larifla, Ker-Uhel neighborhood animation referent and dancer himself. The choice will be made “as close as possible to what young people like to do and aspire to discover”, adds Patrice Kervaon, deputy mayor of Lannion in charge of educational policies.

This marathon of events could end with “an outing to Rennes, to attend the qualifying events of the breakdance groups selected to represent France at the 2024 Olympics”.
