On the final day of the 42nd Prefectural High School Selection Tournament and 74th National High School Championship (Winter Cup) Prefectural Preliminary Round of Basketball, the men’s and women’s semifinals and finals were held at the Hanamaki City Gymnasium on the 24th. Morioka Shirayuri Gakuen won the championship for the third consecutive year.
Ichinoseki played against Morioka City in the final and took the lead of 7 points in the first quarter (Q). From the 2nd Q onward, the point difference was gradually widened, and it was shaken off at 80-69. Morioka Shirayuri Gakuen fought against Ichinoseki Gakuin in the final and allowed the lead in the 1st Q, but reversed to the 2nd Q. He accumulated points in the second half and won 102-71.
The Winter Cup will open on December 23 at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo). 60 schools for men and women will participate, and the combination will be announced on November 17th.
