“I am solely responsible”: after a swipe at his players and a thunderous speech in the dressing room, Mourinho now also looks in the mirror | Serie A

An important side note: Mourinho kept many basic players aside earlier this week, in view of the league match against Napoli. “I am responsible because I made the line-up,” Mourinho said on Thursday. “I wanted to give other players a chance. With the best intentions, but the conclusion is that we lost to a team that had more quality on the pitch. I don’t have two equal players in the same position.”

But today the tenor was a bit different. “A result like Thursday only happens once in a career, but I am solely responsible. Not the players, not the technical management,” he put his hand into his own bosom. According to the Portuguese, his swipe from earlier this week was not aimed at the club management. “I am not an asshole. I have a lot of respect for the owners of the club and the board.”

There were also some details leaked about Mourinho’s speech during halftime in Norway. There were reportedly harsh words. The former coach of Real Madrid and Chelsea, among others, is said to have said, among other things, that some players are not even good enough to play in Norway or in the Serie B.

“The way was painful. But I’d rather lose last Thursday’s match than any other match. We still participate in our group – let’s not forget that.”
