Barcelona has been in disarray since Lionel Messi left. His former coach, Pep Guardiola, did not seem surprised by this.

Barcelona is currently stuck in the Spanish League and in the Champions League. In the Spanish League, Barcelona is currently in ninth place with a collection of 12 points from seven matches.

In the Champions League, his fate was more unlucky. The Blaugrana have twice lost to Bayern Munich and Benfica by a landslide score of 0-3, while at the bottom of Group E.

One of the causes of Barcelona’s disorganization is believed to be the departure of Lionel Messi. It’s been about 17 seasons, Messi finally left Camp Nou.

Messi received a proposal from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) last summer. That was after, his contract at Barcelona had expired and could not be extended due to the club’s financial problems.

In fact, Barcelona is so dependent on a Lionel Messi. Without Messi, Barca’s attack line was only able to collect 11 goals from seven matches, so the worst record in the last 18 years!

Lionel Messi is not only the king of goals, but also the king of assists. So without the presence of the figure of La Pulga, Barcelona’s game will be very different.

Pep Guardiola, a former Barcelona coach who also succeeded in bringing out the best of Messi’s potential. According to him, Barcelona need a long time to be able to adapt without the presence of Messi.

“Lionel Messi is more than just a great player. He is the life of Barcelona,” said Guardiola The Guardian in 2020, when rumors first surfaced that Messi wanted to leave Barca.

“When Messi leaves Barca, they (Barca-red) will take a long time to adjust. That is undeniable,” he continued.

Guardiola added, Lionel Messi is able to make 40 goals in a season. Messi is also the club’s all-time top scorer with 672 goals, and is able to present 30 titles.

“Lionel Messi is the difference. He doesn’t only score goals, but his assists and movement makes it very easy for the team. Just ask the players who have played with him,” concluded Guardiola.
