Good performance of the Sorianos in the regional badminton team

Three players from the Soria-CS24 Badminton Club played with the Castilla y León team in the Spanish Championship for regional teams that was held for four days in the capital of Huelva for child athletes and cadets.

At the team level, the Castilian-Leonese team reaped the best results for a few seasons, with a fourth place and sixth place in the children’s and cadet categories, respectively.

Daniela Corchón was the pillar of the children’s team, achieving nine victories out of eleven possible, pushing the team to the gates of the medals. Daniela’s level led her to win both singles and doubles matches with couples she hadn’t played with yet.

A similar situation occurred with the two Sorianos in the cadet category. Both Javier Barrios and Ana Peñaranda were the players who contributed the most wins to the Castilian-Leonese team, getting seven and six points each. The sixth place achieved confirms the good health of badminton in our community.

While the smallest, the U11 and U13 went to Alfajarín where the Aragonese Federation called a valid test for the national ranking.

The smallest, the U11s, reaped excellent results, winning in three of the five possible categories.

Aaron Barrera, took a new double, taking the title both individually, defeating his clubmate, Iker González, for a highly disputed match that was resolved by 11-15, 15-9 and 17-15, as in the male double with Iker himself.

On the women’s side, Jimena Ayllón beat all her matches by two sets to zero, achieving her first individual triumph in her short career. Jimena would also get on the podium to collect the silver medal for the mixed double with Alvaro Gómez.

Finally, there were also excellent results in the U13 category. Isabel Corchón, after several tournaments playing at an excellent level but without the reward of the title, in the appointment on Saturday achieved the victory in individual that should generate enough confidence to finish the season with new successes. Isabel, along with Carmen Gómez, reached the semifinals in the women’s doubles that will allow them to remain in the national top ten.
