SEVENTH PLACE FOR GIUSEPPE FRANCO AND TWO ELEVENTH FOR MARTINO AND RUGGIERO AT THE ABSOLUTE NATIONAL KUMITE PLACES HELD IN OSTIA LIDO -RM
The trip to Rome for Karateka ended with a 7th place and two 11ths Giuseppe Franco, Marco Martino e Marco Ruggiero dell’ASD Martial Kroton Ryu, which from Friday 15 to Sunday 17 October 2021 took part in the 55th men’s edition of Absolute Italian Karate Kumite Championship.
The imposing structure of the Olympic training center PalaPellicone Ostia Lido- RM was the stage for the most exciting and spectacular three days of competition of the year, in which the best athletes from all over Italy, 500 m / f members, faced each other on the 4 tatami mats set up to compete for the maximum tricolor of the Kumite masculine “339” and feminine “161”. Among the many athletes were present in the different weight categories and classes of European U21 and Seniores champions and owners of the national team who participated in the recent Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
In this prestigious competitive scenario, the results of the rankings for the Master’s athletes Francesco Bellino, it was all in all positive, considering the very high level of this competition and the short preparation time of the Crotonese athletes. For the race report, Friday 15 Marco Ruggiero he ranked 11th in the men’s 60 kg class, winning the first match for 12-5 against the athlete Toscano Maerini Gioele of the Montevarchi club, while he lost to the second 3-1 against Veneto Sanislav Claudio Gabriele of the Treviso Karate club. The day of Saturday 16 saw Giuseppe Franco for the 94 kg men’s class, to win an honorable 7th place after winning 6-4 at the 1st match the Roman Luciani Davide of Polisportiva Tevere, at the 2nd meeting Ghislandi Michael of Bergamo from Karate Club Njo and stopping at the 3rd meeting against the Roman from the Wadoryu Sports Center.
Concludes, on Sunday 17, Marco Martino in the men 84 kg with an 11th place, giving up the match in the first round against the Tuscan Milanta Raffaello Atletic Club Carrara. It was a three days full of adrenaline for fans of competitive sports, are the words of Master Bellino, in which our athletes, even if they did not get on the podium, did well by demonstrating, in their winning matches, great competitive value and passion for this sport.
