From 30 to 25 million? Pro League proposal for social security contribution not sufficient | Jupiler Pro League

It is certain that the social contributions of professional football players must be increased. The Pro League, the association of professional football players, has now put forward a proposal itself, in which it must pay 25 million extra in social security contributions.

They want to increase the current social security ceiling from 2,426 euros to 4,638 euros per month. But this way the big earners are still out of reach. In addition, the Pro League wants to transfer the rest of the RSZ bill, good for 5 million euros, to smaller sports, such as volleyball and basketball.

According to Finance Minister Vincent Van Peteghem, that proposal is not sufficient. “We have clearly agreed in the budget that we want to raise 30 million euros. That is now being worked on.”

“There are various proposals on the table, but 30 million must and will be raised. We will determine what needs to be done in consultation with the sector. In any case, everyone will have to pay a fair contribution.”
