The Salzburg regional league duel between Grünau and Bischofshofen had little to offer on the pitch and ended with a fair 0-0.
The team from Grünau – a town that belongs to the municipality of Wals-Siezenheim – had to accept an expulsion in the 28th minute and defied the Pongauers, who were outnumbered for over an hour, until the final whistle. The 150 visitors to the lot got to see hardly anything attractive, but quite a few of them heard a lot of hearty and little ready-to-print.
Responsible for this: ex-judoka Patrick Reiter. The 49-year-old is the creator of the SK Bischofshof and spent almost 90 minutes at the championship game in the Hans-Ludwig-Stadion in Grünau.
Grünau trainer Franz Aigner (picture), ex-Austria-Salzburg professional and former ÖFB team player, was repeatedly annoyed about the former Olympic participant and judo world and European champion (up to 78 kg): “How Patrick Reiter gets up the grandstand is not sustainable. It was just insane, “says 54-year-old Aigner in conversation with the Salzburger Nachrichten.
“Reiter not only insulted my coaching team and me again and again, but also our team,” said the three-time champions with Austria Salzburg (1994, 1995 and 1997) and UEFA Cup finalist (1994) about the behavior of his former neighbor, stunned.

“We once lived in the same house in Bischofshofen and were good friends as children,” says Aigner. It is a mystery to Aigner that his former childhood friend has changed so much. “Out of respect for his father, whom I really appreciate, I don’t want to say anything about Patrick’s character,” said the former midfielder in the Champions League group stage (against AC Milan, Ajax and AEK Athens in 1994).
Franz Aigner says of his former youth club BSK, from which he transferred a million schillings (equivalent to about 72,672 euros) to Sturm Graz in 1986 and joined Austria Salzburg two years later: “Bischofshofen was by far the largest club in Pongau The youngsters were outstanding and everyone wanted to play for the BSK. “
According to Aigner, things look different at the moment: “With Elvis Poric, there is only one self-made player playing at BSK, the rest are mostly legionnaires. For me, Patrick is more of a player’s agent than a club official.”
Regardless of this, Aigner is particularly shocked by the behavior of Reiter when his team plays. In any case, the former friendship of the Grünau trainer with the BSK board has given way to a great disappointment.
