The pupils of the primary school which is part of the Jurcic-Alighieri school complex in Duino have again the outdoor field available for their sporting activities. In fact, the reconstruction work on the fence necessary for the reopening has been completed in these days.
The new fence was built with a reinforced structure, with triple horizontal tie rods and double crossed tie rods, in order to guarantee resistance to any stress and therefore usability in total safety. «Thanks to the commitment of the councilor Lorenzo Pipan – explains the mayor of Duino Aurisina, Daniela Pallotta – we have completed this intervention, for a cost of over 20 thousand euros, which returns this sports field to the children and the whole community. For years the fence had not been in good condition – remembers Pallotta – and this had led to the closure of the camp for safety reasons, which is used by the pupils of the Jurcic and Alighieri schools ».
The parents of the boys of the same Jurcic-Alighieri had given life to a petition, at the beginning of 2021, to solicit the administration and thus arrive at a solution to the problem.
The area – consisting of an old basketball court and another adjacent space, also dated, used, until October, by the students in the morning and in the afternoon by all the children of Duino and beyond – is functional to a remarkable range of activities.
“This space – said at the time Lia Deotto, president of the parents’ association – is a fundamental collective space, especially in this moment of health emergency, necessary for children and sometimes also used by the students of the United World College”. The Municipality had then included the intervention among its priorities.
