Top favorite Daniil Medvedev has been eliminated in the fourth round of the masters tournament in Indian Wells. The first-seeded Russian tennis player lost in three sets to Grigor Dimitrov from Bulgaria: 6-4, 4-6, 3-6.
Medvedev, who won the US Open a few weeks ago, had not yet lost a set in Indian Wells and also seemed well on his way against Dimitrov. He even led 4-1 in the second set, but lost control due to his own mistakes and a weak service.
Dimitrov, the number 28 in the world, did not hesitate for a moment and won the set 6-4. He took the third set 6-3 and thus defeated the number two in the world.
