On Monday evening, the national team traveled to Hamburg for the games against Romania (Friday, 8.45 p.m. / RTL and live ticker on BILD) and to North Macedonia. In front of the team hotel “Gastwerk” in Altona, however, only Chelsea star Antonio Rüdiger (28) went to the 40 or so fans waiting for selfies and autographs. The rest disappeared straight away in the DFB quarter. The hotel employees then blocked the few glances at the team dinner with large sheets of paper that they had to stick to the hotel windows.
A day later, Thomas Müller (32) commented on the lack of fan closeness at the start of the international match in Hamburg!
The Bayern star: “I can only speak for myself: I am still very cautious about direct contact. But I don’t know myself how to behave properly, whether I should rather hold back. “
After the one and a half year corona crisis, Müller doesn’t really know whether he can and should allow the old fan closeness again. At FC Bayern, the stars were not allowed to take selfies or autographs for many months – no contact with the fans because of the risk of infection! The fan base has become a little more relaxed in the last few weeks.
The 2014 world champion: “It’s hard to say that I’ll just start a fire now. There are still many doubters who question whether this is the right situation for it. On the other hand, we don’t want to say that there is a general ban on contacting fans. So: I don’t know how to behave. “
About his fan behavior, Müller says: “We have many requirements, we should hold back. When there are fans in our club when I drive out of the garage, I try to say: A photo two meters away is okay! But I don’t like to sign. It is difficult for everyone involved to find a middle ground. “
