Derby with exciting omens – Lions welcome Tigers in good shape

Karlsruhe (br) – After two away wins, most recently on October 23 against the newly promoted Itzehoe Eagles and a previous weekend without a game, the PS Karlsruhe Lions are looking forward to their first appearance in four weeks in the local Lina-Radke-Halle next Saturday.

Lions receive tigers

The audience can look forward to an attractive pairing. Last but not least, the guests make sure of that, because the Tigers Tübingen have so far got off to a good start in the BARMER 2nd Basketball Bundesliga ProA. There were four wins in six encounters. On October 24th it was the Bayer Giants Leverkusen who were sent home by the Tigers with 87:76. Tübingen is currently in fourth place in the table and could become a real touchstone for a Karlsruhe team that has high individual quality, but is currently still working on the consistency.

Badisch-Swabian Derby

In the duels between the Lions and the Tigers, the Baden-Swabian rivalry always plays a role, which gives the derby – the two cities are less than 100 kilometers apart – a special flavor every time. The meeting in March 2019 in the fully occupied Paul Horn Arena in Tübingen is legendary to this day. Three game days before the end of the main round, both the Lions and the Tigers fought for a place in the PlayOffs. With a highly dramatic 94: 100 overtime it was the Badeners who secured participation in the championship round. Tübingen had to watch.

Last home game with 3G

The statistics from the 2020/2021 season are in favor of the Tigers. The first leg on the Upper Rhine ended 82:93. A second leg did not take place because the Lions were in quarantine at the time of the originally planned appointment and the match could not be made up due to the league’s tight schedule. The game starts on Saturday at 7.30 p.m. It is the last game of the Lions in the home hall before the 2G rule takes effect from November.
