Cowboys: Goodbye Jaylon Smith

Fate is sometimes cruel in the NFL. Selected in the second round in 2016 to help revive the Cowboys’ defense, Jaylon Smith was dismissed just as Dallas was starting to get solid.

Franchise herself announced the dismissal of the player in an article on its website. She even explains that she tried to set up an exchange to send Smith elsewhere, but that no team was sufficiently interested.

Dallas cuts Smith even though it does not offer him any savings in the payroll. According to salary of $ 7.2 million is guaranteed. The Cowboys are just saving themselves from seeing part of his salary for the year 2022 become guaranteed if he were to be injured.

This season, Smith has played 56% of defensive snaps, with 19 tackles. But the franchise decided that the presence of Micah Parsons, Keanu Neal and Jabril Cox was enough. Leighton Vander Esch is also still there.

Pro Bowler in 2019, Smith was also a team captain. He is free and can immediately sign with the team of his choice.
