Champions LeagueClub Brugge has a 58% chance of wintering in Europe. That is what the specialized data website FiveThirtyEight calculated. Although the chance remains small that Blauw-Zwart will advance to the eighth finals of the Champions League.
Club Brugge is divided into group A with Manchester City, PSG and RB Leipzig. A heavy group. According to Gracenote, blue-black had only a four percent chance of reaching the next round of the Champions League in advance. But Vanaken and co took a fantastic start with four out of six, which has increased Club’s chances.
FiveThirtyEight calculated that blue-black now has a 14% chance (3% chance of group win, 11% chance of finishing second) to reach the eighth finals of the Champions League. In no less than 44% of the cases, Club finishes third in the group, in which case they are fished out in the Europa League. Club therefore has a 58% chance of wintering in Europe.
Club Brugge is playing in the group stage of the Champions League for the fourth year in a row. Since the creation of the Champions League in 1992, the people of Bruges have never been able to hibernate in it. The last three seasons they managed to end up in the Europa League, as third in the group.
Manchester City are the top contenders to win the Champions League. Kevin De Bruyne and his teammates have a 22% chance of winning the cup with the big ears. Followed by Bayern Munich (19%), Ajax (11%), Liverpool (10%), Chelsea (8%) and Real Madrid (5%).
