Christian Wood, Jalen Green… bon appétit !

Another statement that is one of the great pre-season phrases, when each year a large part of the NBA celebrates altruism, defense, will and friendship in the group. The last one to date? Kevin Porter Jr., young crack of the Rockets, who recently said he wanted to turn ten assists this season. And the worst part about it is that it’s not even messing around.

Arriving in Texas on January 22, Kevin Porter Jr. quickly showed Toyota Center fans what wood he was made of. A sometimes tormented player who will have to be accompanied off the field, but on the slats of the floor KPJ is a sacred phenomenon whose few hot spots last season were enough to make the Rockets fan base madly in love. We think in particular of this incredible game against the Bucks on April 29, but not that, since Kevin Porter Jr. in Houston is still more than 16 points and 6 assists in a good twenty games, disjointed games at the end of season, it is true, but great promises nonetheless. This season Kevinou will have to put the gas a little more, and accompanied by ever younger teammates (arrivals via the Draft of Jalen Green, Usman Garuba, Alperenn Sengun and Josh Christopher), his role will jump from laboratory prospects to presumed leader. And the situation of John Wall helping, the former rookie of the Cavs will therefore find himself starting point guard, it is he who says it and he even has something else to promise you:

Christian Wood, Jae’Sean Tate, Eric Gordon or Jalen Green rejoice, your new playmaker wants to treat you and he assumes it so much that he announced it. A statement that looks like the character, who is not afraid of anything or anyone, and this figure which, in the end, is perhaps not dropped at random as the kid likes to distribute, while having already proved that he had for the donation of caviars a certain ease. 6.3 average assists at the end of last season so, with Kelly Olynyk as the offensive leader it should be remembered, then the construction of these 2021-22 Rockets and their probable uninhibited way of playing can clearly help the kid explode his medium. Do we believe it? Clearly. Wouldn’t we put ten balls on the table because we’re so sure of it? Clearly not. In any case, KPJ has decided to put a little pressure on himself in this pre-season, it looks like him, and we will therefore give him the right to roll mechanics if he succeeds in assuming his big words.

Fans of the Rockets rest assured, you have in your roster a potentially elite sniper AND a kid who will do anything to feed him throughout the season. Spoiling it will probably lose a lot more games than it wins, but at least the little ones want to play for each other and that is already a first victory.
