Charleroi sees cup dream shatter against Lommel: “I am disappointed”

Charleroi-Lommel did not become a high flyer, but people at the Gestelsedijk will not care much about that. The 1B club showed itself from the penalty spot to be more cold-blooded than the Carolos. A failed panenka by ancien Guillaume Gillet ensured that Charleroi’s cup adventure is already over.

And so Edward Still’s Charleroi, which has already received a lot of praise in recent weeks, is immediately knocked out of the cup. Something that hit hard in the Black Country. “Which feeling dominates? I’m disgusted,” was the clear answer from Edward Still.

“We were able to prepare this match in optimal conditions. I felt an enormous spirit to make something of this cup campaign, we knew what to expect and our game plan was clear…But it was not to be.”

Still proved to be a worthy loser. “We also have to congratulate Lommel for the quality they have put in their defensive work. We struggled to create chances and we bumped into a strong goalkeeper (Fiermarin, ed.). Congratulations to them”, concludes Still.
