The basketball world is in mourning. After fainting in the middle of the Serie C Gold game (Italy’s third category of basketball), 32-year-old Italian Haitem Fathallah died this Sunday at the hospital in Reggio Calabria. It was the third quarter of the game between Fortitudo Messina against Dierre RC, when Fathallah fell to the ground, which is why the duel was immediately interrupted so that the athlete was treated by doctors and then rushed to a hospital.
According to information from the Italian Basketball Federation (FIP), despite the intervention of the doctors present to resuscitate him and the ambulance trip to the hospital, Haitem was always unconscious and died immediately after being hospitalized.

Haitem Fathallah was originally from Sicily and after serving in teams such as Porto Empedocle, Racalmuto and Licata, he arrived in Messina in 2016, first at the Basket School and then at Fortitudo.
